I’ve had my hand in many pots, stirring up all kinds of creative magic, but here are a few of my favorite creations that I’ve cooked up along the way.

Different Wrld

In 2016, I started my brand, Different Wrld, driven by a deep desire to pursue a creative career. What began as a vintage store—where I did everything from sourcing and sewing to directing photoshoots and throwing pop-up parties—quickly evolved into something much bigger.

Over time, it grew into a DIY, 300-capacity creative venue, a space that didn’t just sell clothing but hosted and produced 200+ events—from clown shows and fundraisers to dance parties, panels, and workshops. It became a hub for artistry, expression, and community—a different world seen through the lens of a girl from the Dirty South.

I led a team of 23 young and diverse creatives, overseeing everything from bar management to developing scroll-stopping content—proven by the way people kept showing up to our events. I balanced top-tier business operations like taxes, licensing, and logistics while also fostering an environment where my team could thrive creatively.

This project was deeply personal to me for many reasons, but most of all because it was the most creative and direct way to give back to the BIPOC, queer, and artist communities—providing spaces for self-expression, fostering connection, and creating opportunities to earn. In less than two years, we paid over $76,000 to artists and creatives for sharing their work, allocated $234,000 in payroll to employ women, queer, trans, and Black folks, and raised over $25,000 for local organizations supporting mutual aid efforts in our community. It wasn’t just about throwing events—it was about building a movement where creativity and community could thrive, where artists were valued, and where people could come together not just to express themselves, but to be supported, seen, and paid.

“hold u”

music video For indigo de souza

I had the honor of directing a music video for Indigo De Souza, an up-and-coming alt-indie artist, for her career-defining hit, "Hold U."

When Indigo first approached me, I had no prior experience directing music videos. But what I did have was experience in event planning, community building, and the connections I had made from the many random PA jobs I had taken in the film world—so how hard could it be?

With the help of friends and YouTube University, I developed a storyboard, a treatment, coordinated the crew, cast extras, help develop art department—down to the craft table. We made it happen. And that night, something clicked.

Since then, I’ve gone on to direct other projects and continue collaborating with musicians on a variety of creative works. What started as a leap of faith turned into a passion—and I’m just getting started.

Fall/winter ‘21 collection for Hunter Savoy

I led production for Hunter Savoy’s Fall/Winter ‘21 Collection shoot, shot by Moses Sumney. From scouting locations to developing the shot list, coordinating the models' call sheet, and making sure the crew was taken care of—including preparing lunch— I saw the shoot through from start to finish. It was over a 10-hour day, and I kept communication clear and efficient, making sure everything stayed on track while keeping the energy up on set.

Designer Hunter Savoy shared, 'Honey Simone is a creative you want on your sets. She has an instinctive ability to make the people around her feel welcomed, cared for, and elevated. Honey amps up a room and continually envisions a space with no limit”.

This shoot was a testament to my ability to balance logistics with creative flow, making sure every detail came together seamlessly to bring the vision to life.

Nauseous - Music video for annie dirusso

Annie DiRusso and her team hit me and my crew up with a last-minute request—to produce and direct a music video for her song Nauseous with less than a week’s turnaround. So we made it happen.

In just a few short days of talking with Annie and her team, we flushed out a storyboard, developed a treatment, shot list and coordinated our film crew—spread out across the country. Luckily, we already had a strong rapport from working together on the Indigo De Souza shoot, so they shifted their busy schedules to meet us in Nashville.

Despite budget constraints, we didn’t let that stop us. We took an extra day on our own time to set up the location and handle as much prep work as possible, making sure our one shoot day was both productive and an enjoyable experience for everyone on set.

With a tight timeframe from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM, we kept everything running smoothly. The last piece of equipment rolled out the door right at 8:30 PM—with a satisfied crew and an even more satisfied client.

THE UNDERCURRENT

In 2020, after years of wanting to share my voice and being stuck at home, The Undercurrent Podcast was born. I set out to create a listening experience that explores aesthetics, architecture, and the ever-evolving culture around us. I led the creative development of the show, overseeing everything from the logo design and custom intro music to curating our Instagram presence.

Unfortunately, my co-host had to step down due to external circumstances, but I hope to return to the airwaves one day and continue the conversation.

other skills that make me a better creative director

I don’t know a single creative who sticks to just one outlet, and I’m no different. My love for creating extends into DJing, emceeing, stand-up comedy, merch design, being a panelist and more. To some, these skills might seem unrelated, but I see them as interconnected—flexing the same creative muscles in my spare time that I use in my professional work. Creativity is a throughline in everything I do, no matter the medium.
